Brian Pallister Steps Down

Prairie Tokki LV 10 21-10-06 625

Brian Pallister, the 22nd premier of Manitoba from 2016 until 2021 has stepped down and will no longer be the premier (leader) of Manitoba.

Brian Pallister was the leader of the provincial Conservative Party, and the new future leader of the party will be chosen by the end of October.

Pallister was elected in 2015 and re-elected in 2019 which means he had 2 years left to serve. He likely resigned only halfway through his term due to his unpopularity in handling the COVID-19 pandemic and his comments regarding Indigenous relations.

Pallister probably did this so that the new conservative leader will become more popular than he currently is, and so that the Conservative Party gains back popularity so they have a chance to be re-elected in 2023.
