Canada Announces New Travel Measures to Combat Spread of Omicron COVID-19
Canada has just announced a new travel ban to people from Nigeria, Malawi and Egypt in the hopes to contain the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
This is added to the other 7 African countries that are banned from traveling to Canada that was announced on Friday: South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini.
Canadians who have recently traveled to those countries will have to self quarantine and get tested for COVID. There is testing available at the airport (the government will pay for it).
All of this is because the new Omicron variant seems to be very contagious and the government wants to stop the spread of it now, before we learn more about it.
